Dear Families and Students,

The Department of Technology welcomes you to the 2020-21 school year! We are committed to supporting your technology needs. Please read below for information about our expanded support options for the upcoming school year.

Technology Support

ACPS students and families now have multiple options for requesting and receiving technology support:

  1. Call your child's school and ask for technology support. You will be transferred to a technician who will assist you.
  2. Use the online Student Technology Support Form to submit a service ticket.
  3. Call the ACPS Service Desk at 434-975-9444, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Using Zoom at Home

ACPS uses Zoom to deliver virtual learning. We recommend the use of passcodes and waiting rooms to help keep our staff, students and families safe. Also, it is best for students to enter their first and last name in the same way they would be shared in the classroom. For the best experience using Zoom, download the Zoom application to your ACPS laptop.

Option 1: Before classes start

  • Visit
  • Click on the large DOWNLOAD button. The download will start automatically.
  • Run ZoomInstaller.exe and accept all defaults.

Option 2 - Immediately before a Zoom class begins

  • Click on the Zoom link that is shared with you by your teacher.
  • When the prompt asks if you would like to install the Zoom application, click Yes.
  • Accept all defaults.

Please note:

  • Once Zoom is installed, the links that teachers provide will automatically open in the Zoom application.
  • Zoom updates will automatically install to keep the application up to date.
  • Students do NOT need a Zoom account and should not use one when accessing ACPS Zoom links.
